We recently had three rugs laid out on the wash floor at our facility before cleaning, and it was a perfect reminder of how misunderstood rug cleaning still is. Many homeowners assume rugs are cleaned the same way wall to wall carpet is cleaned in the home.
Sometimes that is true for light maintenance on certain synthetic rugs, but many rugs need a much more thorough process than top-down cleaning can provide.
We recently picked up a beautiful Flora designer wool rug from a home in Southwest Portland. The homeowner reached out because the rug had started to look dull and slightly uneven in color, especially in the main traffic areas. There were also a few spots from everyday use that had become more noticeable over time.
This wool rug cleaning project was completed for a homeowner in Milwaukie, Oregon who was dealing with pet urine stains that had soaked into a wool area rug. The stains were not fully visible under normal lighting but became very clear under UV light, which revealed urine contamination beneath the surface of the fibers.
